Abanca Ademar León 21-39 Barça: Asobal Cup Champions
The blaugranes take the trophy for the 12th time in a row with a resounding win over the hosts in the final
The Barça handball team are Asobal Cup Champions for the 12th consecutive season after beating tournament hosts Abanca Ademar León by 39-21 in a final that the blaugranes dominated from start to finish.
The blaugranes came out of the blocks strongly in the final and after just 10 minutes they led 9-3 thanks to a Ludovic Fabregas who netted three times in the early stages. Carlos Ortega's team continued to dominate and they took an 11 goal lead into the break with even goalkeeper Gonzalo Pérez de Vargas getting on the scoresheet.
In the second half the home side rallied briefly but Barça quickly restored their 10 goal lead. With the game under control the blaugranes kept their foot on the accelerator to record a final scoreline of 39-21 and claim their 12th Asobal Cup in a row.
