Dobovec 0-8 Barça: comfortably though to the Elite Round

Barça rattle in the goals against the Slovenian side to guarantee their place in the next round

A great win for Barça on match day 2 of the Champions League Main Round. The Catalans were clear winners against Dobovec (0-8) and are mathematically through the Elite Round. The result from the Luxol St. Andrews v Hovocubo game will determine whether they finish first or second.

A win for the Maltese side will mean the game on Saturday will decide first place (with only at least a draw needed), but if Hovocubo draw or win, Barça will already be group winners before the third game. Let's not forget that the Elite Round will be played from 21 to 27 November, with the draw taking place on 3 November.

Remorseless

Barça came out of the blocks with every intention of sewing up Elite Round qualification as soon as possible, Ferrao scoring from a free-kick layoff after just three minutes, 0-1. Sergio González then finished a good slide rule pass from Marcenio to make it 0-2 three minutes later. The chances kept coming but Pecek made a number of saves. However, Sergio González scored his second just before half time to go in 0-3 up.

No let up

The Catalans were clearly superior and put the game to bed after five in the second half, with two quick strikes from Adolfo (0-4, min. 23) and Sergio Lozano (0-5, min. 25). Further goals from Sergio Lozano, and two more from Sergio González (who scored four in the game) completed the comprehensive win in the last five minutes.

So, a much better Barça qualify for the Elite Round, with just first and second place in the group to be decided.
