Barça 3-3 ElPozo Múrcia: Cup winners on penalties!

A final that had drama and plot twists from start to finish ends with the Catalans winning the trophy for the sixth time

Barça have won the Spanish Futsal Cup for the sixth time, and have done so in a spectacularly dramatic final in Jaen that was eventually decided on penalties, with Miquel Feixas quite stupendous.

It’s the 36th trophy on total that the futsal team has won over the years and a wonderful boost for the confidence of a side that is also vying for glory in La Liga and the Champions League.

Beating ElPozo Murcia was never going to be an easy task, especially with former Brça goalie Juanjo Angosto looking so brilliant for the opposition. It was not until the 16th minute that Adolfo finally found the net, but there was also a setback when Esquerdinha had to go off with an injury.

Murcia produced their response after the restart. Dídac Plana suddenly found himself under pressure and was quickly beaten by both Rafa Santos and Taynan.

Jesús Velasco opted to play Dyego as rush goalie for the final minutes and it paid off two minutes from the end when a Taynan own goal sent the game into extra time.

Barça looked to have the title sewn up when Pito got them back into the lead, but a late equaliser from Darío meant the cup would be decided on penalties.

The shootout had a bit of everything too, with Miquel Feixas coming on in goal for Barça and drama when Murcia looked to have won the title only for a VAR decision to lead to the decisive kick being retaken, not for the only time during the PHs1. In the end Marcenio rifled in the winner and Barça could celebrate a most extraordinary victory!
