FC Barcelona 2–2 Palma Futsal: Champions on penalties

Didac Plana produces the magic in the shootout after the Spanish Super Cup Final ends two apiece

Barça have won their first piece of futsal silverware this season, and also the first under coach Jesus Valesco. They are coming home from Jerez de la Frontera with the Spanish Super Cup after beating Palma on penalties following a 2-2 draw.

Bothe sides adopted a caution first approach to the first half, which was destined to finish without score, although Ferrao and Adolfo both had excellent chances to put the Catalans in the lead.

The second half was an altogether more lively affair. Andre Coelho converted a brilliant Adolfo pass to get Barça ahead, but Palma took just 30 seconds to level up through the veteran Marlon.

Both sides could have clinched late victory, but excellent goalkeeping at both ends sent the game into overtime.

Right at the very end, Mancuso’s goal looked to have won the title for Palma, but Barça surged forward and earned a draw thanks to a tremendous header from Adolfo.

So to penalties, and time for Dídac Plana to do his work. His goalkeeping, combined with goals from Ferrao, Dyego and Pito meant the Super Cup trophy would be heading to Barcelona.
