A second league defeat for Barça. Shorn of stars like Ortiz, Matheus, Pito and Sergio Lozano through injury, a punishing recent schedule took its toll on the home side, who despite fighting to the final whistle, went down 1-3 in the Palau.
Counter attacks put the brakes on Barça
Barça started off well and were just lacking a goal for their efforts. A very offensive and solid approach led to the home side dominating the initial exchanges, with Ferrao and Diego testing the Palma keeper, Barrón.
Despite all the good early signs, Palma Futsal were first to strike through Eloy Rojas after a rapid counter attack. The goal led a more chaotic game as Barça kept pressing forward, including pushing keeper Dídac up into the action at times. Palma remained ready for the counter, but the defences held firm. 0-1 at the break.
Strong defence proves the platform for the Palma win
A fervent Palau Blaugrana combined with a dogged Barça side helped Coelho make it 1-1 in the 26th minute. Palma soon deflated the atmosphere, however, as Eloy Rojas scored his second via a deflection. Barça pushed right to the end with Marcenio playing as the fifth attacker, but the Palma defence proved a match for everything that was thrown at them. Chaguinha ultimately sealed the win from inside the Palma half to make the final score 1-3.
