Halle-Gooik 4-8 Barça: One more step

Halle-Gooik 4-8 Barça: One more step

Qualification for the Final Four now hanging on Saturday's game against Elite Round host club Plzen

After the big win over Dobovec (8-2) in the first game of the Elite Round, the Barça futsal team made it two wins out of two against Belgian outfit Halle-Gooik. A gripping game ended 8-4 with the Catalan goals coming courtesy of Matheus (x2), Dyego (x2), Ferrao, André Coelho, Pito and Lozano.

Qualification is now likely to come down to a head to head between barça and the host of the event, Plzen, who faced Dobovec immediately after. That game is being played on Saturday.

Things got off to an electric start, with five goals in eight minutes. Halle-Gooik were proving to a very difficult opponent indeed, and they took the lead three times, with Barça finding a quick answer every time.

Unlike the Balgians, when Barça finally took a lead of their own for the first time at 4-3, they not only held on to it but gradually extended it, controlling the game far better in the second half, with tighter defence while taking their own chances up front.

One difficulty Barça are going to have to cope with is the absence of Brazilian Pito against Plzen, who will be serving a suspension after picking up another yellow card.
