Barça 5 -1 Viten Orsha: Comfortable win on Champions League debut
Jesús Velasco's team kick off this season's European campaign with a victory in the Main Round in Lithuania
A victorious debut for the Barça futsal team in the 2021/22 Champions League. Jesús Velasco's team kicked of the Main Round of the competition with a win over Belarus outfit Viten Orsha in the Zalgirio Arena in Kaunas thanks to a hat-trick from Pito and goal from Povill and Adolfo.
Pito's first goal
The encounter started with Barça pressing well and Pito opened the scoring after just 4 minutes with his first official goal for the blaugranes. Ferrao, Coelho and Lozano went close to adding a second before Pito doubled his tally and Barça's advantage on nine minutes, taking advantage of a mistake at the back by the Belarussians.
In similar fashion three minutes later Pito pounced on a loose ball and punished Viten with a goal that gave him a hat-trick in just eight minutes.
Bernat Povill added a fourth, turning in a corner for his first goal of the season to make it 4-0 to Barça at half time.
With the game virtually decided, the second half saw a slight drop off in intensity. Viten sacrificed their keeper and pulled one back through Lazyuk only for Adolfo to round off the win for Barça with a fifth in the final minutes.
Barça now face Levante on Wednesday at 3.30pm CEST in a game which could be vital in deciding who tops the Champions League group.
