Pere Romeu's Barça continue to collect domestic titles. With this Copa de la Reina victory in Gran Canaria, it makes it six out of six: two Cups, two League titles, and two Super Cups. The Barça coach, as expected, said he was "very happy" with his team’s performance against a tough Atlético Madrid side.
Happy and Grateful
"I think we played very well in the first half, with a very strong start. Then, after their goal, they came at us and put us under pressure, but we didn’t suffer too much," explained Romeu in the post match press conference. The team had "prepared for the match very well, and we executed the plan very well."
All of this came on a historic day marked by the 26,093 spectators at the Estadio Gran Canaria, a record attendance for a Copa de la Reina final. On this, Romeu said he was "super grateful that the competition is attracting more and more attention. I’m very happy to play a final in a big stadium and see so many people. Wherever we play, we always feel at home," he added.
Oslo Will Be a Different Match
Although the coach and the team were fully focused on this final, attention now turns to next Saturday’s Champions League final in Oslo. Romeu expects "a different kind of match. Much more physical. Lyon are a different team, more aggressive. They press higher, so it will be different."
However, Romeu insists that "the team is in good shape. We’ve rotated quite a lot, and everyone has been active and has had minutes. Whoever plays, we’re in a good moment."
