Last day of internationals for nine from FC Barcelona

Another round of South American World Cup qualifiers plus a Euro U21 playoff for Denis Suárez, while several others have friendly games for their countries

There are a number of international games involving FC Barcelona players this Tuesday, after which they’ll all start heading back home to report for training with Luis Enrique ahead of Saturday’s Liga fixture against Málaga. Here’s a round-up of today’s matches (all times local):

Spain v Poland

Carlos Belmonte, Albacete at 6.00pm (European U21 Championship qualifier)

Denis Suárez and the rest of Albert Celades’ Spanish squad are looking to seal a place in the finals in Poland next year. This is the second leg of their playoff with Austria after the two sides drew 1-1 last week in Sankt Pölten.

Italy v Germany

San Siro, Milan at 8.45pm (International friendly)

Marc-Andre ter Stegen is in the visiting squad in this meeting between teams that have won a combined total of eight World Cups.

England v Spain

Wembley, London at 9.00pm (International friendly)

Two more former World Cup winners are in action here, with injuries meaning that Sergi Roberto and Sergio Busquets are the only Barça representatives in Julen Lopetegui’s side.

France v Ivory Coast

Stade Bollaert-Delelis, Lens at 9.00pm (International friendly)

On the back of an impressive World Cup qualifying win against Sweden, Lucas Digne and his side now play a friendly with one of Africa’s strongest teams. Defender Samuel Umtiti, who was initially called for duty, is out with an injury.

Argentina v Colombia

Estadio San Juan del Bicentenario, San Juan at 8.30pm (World Cup qualifier)

It’s a lot more serious in South America, where the latest round of World Cup qualifiers sees Leo Messi and Javier Mascherano’s Argentina in big need of points to get back among the places that offer a ticket to Russia in 2018. They have home advantage against Colombia, but the side currently third in the table are never an easy proposition.

Chile v Uruguay

Estadio Nacional Julio Martínez Prádanos, Santiago at 8.30pm (World Cup qualifier)

Luis Suárez’s Uruguay are in much better condition, second as things stand, but they now face a very tricky trip indeed to the side that has won the last two editions of the Copa América. If the Barça striker scores, he’ll set a new all-time record for goals in Conmebol zone qualifiers.

Peru v Brazil

Estadio Nacional, Lima at 9.15pm (World Cup qualifier)

Buoyed by their 3-0 defeat of Argentina, Neymar Jr and Brazil will be looking to consolidate their place at the top of the ten-team pile. But they’ll be doing that at the home of the team that put them out of last summer’s Copa América, and Peru are very much one of the in-form sides in South America at the moment.
