The world was wowed by Leo Messi’s performance against Espanyol. The Argentinian scored one goal and supplied two assists and a complete repertoire of amazing skills that caused gasps in the Camp Nou, and in front of TV sets all around the planet.
The way he danced through four defenders as if the ball was stuck to his feet in the build-up to the second goal was one of the standout moments, and there more of the same as he left the Espanyol defence flailing helplessly before Jordi Alba found the net to make it 3-0. And what about his wonderful touch to slip the ball through the keeper’s legs and score the fourth?
After the game, Luis Enrique described Messi as unreal. “He’s quite unique and we’ll never get used to these things” he said.
