Luis Suárez: Luis Enrique's decision surprised us but it's understandable

'Now the league is in our hands' 'We have to be positive against PSG'

Luis Suárez is a unique playero on and off the field. The Uruguayan has won the hearts of the Barça fans thanks to his commitment and, of course, his goals. The number 9 now has 111 in a blaugrana shirt and eight trophies in his list of honours with the club. The striker was interviewed by radio station Onda Cero and he give his views on current topics such as the departure of coach Luis Enrique at the end of the season and the team’s chances in the last 16 of the Champions League.

On the decision of the current Barça boss, Suárez admitted: “It has surprised us a little, we didn’t expect it but it is an understandable decision and one that we accept.”

“The job of coach is very difficult and requires lots of hours of hard work and he has to enjoy being with his family as well.”

On the battle for the league title, the Uruguayan striker was optimistic. “What characterizes us is that we never give up, we always believe in ourselves, and that has given us the results we needed. At the moment, it’s down to us but we are aware that there are a lot of tough games remaining, no opponent is easy,” he said

The goalscorer also touched on the second leg of his side’s last 16 Champions League tie. “We believe in the team. It’s very difficult, but not impossible. IF we get an early goal they will get nervous because they know we are capable of doing it.”

“We have that ability to turn any situation around,” he added. “We are an incredible team with desire and ambition. If we were able to score four in the Bernabéu, why not against PSG at Camp Nou. We have to be positive.”

Finally, he commented on the understanding with his fellow strikers. “Each of us has their own ways but we have a good relationship. We share things in the in the dressing room, we chat and enjoy ourselves and we are here to do things right for Barça,” said the Uruguayan international. On Neymar, he added: “He is a happy guy, he is always smiling and that rubs off on everybody else.” As for Leo Messi: “In footballing terms, he is the best in the world and as a team mate he is spectacular. Ever since I arrived he has treated me brilliantly and I will always be grateful to him.”
