A victory conjured up from the bench

Deulofeu with his dribbling skills on the right and Denis Suárez and Paulinho’s eye for goal were all key in Barça’s comeback win over Getafe

Another Barça win and the blaugranes continue their 100% record in the league with 12 poitns out of a possible 12 following the 2-1 win over Getafe in the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez. Gaku Shibasaki put the home side ahead but second half strikes from substitutes Denis Suárez and Paulinho allowed the visitors to take all three points.

The comeback win was inspired from the sidelines with coach Ernesto Valverde initially forced into a first substitution early on in the game. Dembélé picked up a thigh injury and was replaced by Gerard Deulofeu after just 28 minutes. The Catalan winger went on to be a constant thorn in the side of the Getafe defence with his pace and he played a vital part in winning the ball back for the equaliser in the second half.

After the break coach Ernesto Valverde made two decisive substitutions that changed the course of the game. At half time Denis Suárez entered the fray in place of Andrés Iniesta and the Galician was on hand in the 62nd minute to grab the equaliser, picking up a pass from Sergio Roberto to finish coolly into the top corner.

The final change saw Paulinho come on after 77 minutes to replace Rakitic. The Brazilian had only been on the field for seven minutes when he scored the winner to hand Barça all three points. Paulinho latched on a pass from Messi, used his strength to hold off the defender and whipped a shot into the far corner beyond the reach of keeper Guaita.

Three substitutions and three players who played a key role in the comeback, making it clear that making alterations from the sidelines can also win matches.
