First training session of the new year, as Hansi Flick's squad were put through their paces for the fourth time this week with the target of being in the best possible shape for the local derby on 3 January after welcoming in 2026.

Another session under the belt

The session to continue preparations for the match against Espanyol took place on pitch two at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper and all available players were out on the grass. The pre-match press conference for the derby tomorrow may see Hansi Flick speak about who is available for the LaLiga match at the RCDE stadium, the first match back after the festive break. We'll find out soon as the coach is set to speak to the press from 1.00pm CET on Friday 2 January.

That's not the only activity planned around the game, as there will be the traditional photograph featuring the Espanyol and Barça coaches, plus the blaugrana players will be in again for another session to make it a full week of sessions. All systems go to start 2026 with a win against an opponent in good form.
