It’s already been ten years since a magical night for Barça fans. On 30 May 2015, their stadium hosted that season’s Copa del Rey final. A clash between the traditional cup kings that ended 3-1 to the 'home' side (who were officially playing away that night), handing Barça their 27th Copa.
A Messi masterpiece
Barça dominated from the start and went in 2-0 up at half-time thanks to goals from Messi and Neymar. The first was outrageous: the Argentine picked up the ball near halfway, sped down the right, dribbled past four defenders and slipped the ball inside Herrerín’s near post. yet another solo masterpiece from the greatest ever, leaving the whole stadium on its feet.
Two more after the break
There were two further goals in the second half. In the 75th minute Messi struck again to make it 3-0 and all but seal the trophy. Five minutes later Iñaki Williams pulled one back for Athletic, but it was purely cosmetic; Barça duly lifted their 27th Copa that night.
