One of Barça’s biggest 'signings' for the 2025/26 season will be the return of Marc Bernal. The youngster's appearances at the start of the campaign now feel a long time ago, but the midfielder quickly established himself as an undisputed starter under Hansi Flick in the first three league matches, performing at an exceptionally high level and raising plenty of eyebrows.

His budding career was halted at Vallecas, where he suffered a left anterior cruciate ligament tear and an associated external meniscus injury. Nine months later, on May 26, the player marked his coming of age in front of the Barça One cameras, where he recalled that great start to the season and reflected on his lengthy rehabilitation.

Determined to be available again when next season kicks off, Bernal remembered the confidence Flick showed him at Mestalla, on the day of his debut: “He told me to do what I knew how to do, that he already believed in me.” Beyond that, he spoke about the serious injury and, above all, about the recovery process in which he is still immersed.

“I’ve learned a lot, especially how to stay strong and try not to overthink when things aren’t going well" he comments. "There were moments when I just wanted to stay home and sleep all day.”

But already looking to the future, he knows he’s part of a generation with a bright present, and, above all, a dazzling future, and he intends to be part of it once he’s fully fit.
