Leo Messi continues to write history as victory in the World Cup means that the Argentine star has won everything that there is to win as a professional footballer. The legend has shown once more why he is considered one of the best players to have ever played the game with his latest achievement in his long and unforgettable career.

Messi was key in the victory for the South Americans over France in the final, scoring twice in the pulsating 3-3 with France after extra time and then scoring his side's first penalty in the decisive shoot out. Messi, furthermore, became to the first player to score in every round of the competition, finding the net in the group stages, the last 16, the quarter finals, the semi finals and the final itself.

The World Cup winners' medal can be added to Messi's collection of trophies with the Argentina national side along with the Olympic title in 2008 and the Copa América in 2021. Not forgetting the Argentine's myriad of team and individual trophies won in his brilliant career as a Barça player.

Barça records

There is no doubt that Leo Messi is an FC Barcelona legend. The former Barça number 10 has played more games, scored more goals and won more trophies than anyone else in the Club's history.

Messi won all there is to win at club level with Barça, claiming 35 trophies:  4 Champions Leagues, 10 La Ligas,  7 Copas del Rey, 3 Club World Cups, 3 UEFA Super Cups and 8 Spanish Super Cups.

Messi’s individual achievements are also unprecedented: six Ballon d’Or awards, six times Champions League top scorer, six times Golden Shoe winner, eight times ‘Pichichi’ (top scorer) in La Liga, Ballon d’Or winner at the 2014 World Cup, FIFA World Player of the Year in 2009 and FIFA The Best winner in 2019.
