The young striker from La Masia reaches the landmark three years after making his debut for the first team

Ansu Fati is in celebratory mood. After starting the 1-0 victory over Valencia in Mestalla, the striker celebrates his 20th birthday this Monday with a possible place in the Spain squad for the World Cup in Qatar on the horizon. 

Despite some serious injuries over the last few years, Ansu reaches 20 years of age having made 75 appearances for the first team since making his debut in August 2019 at the age of 16 years and 298 days. 

In those 75 games he has scored 22 goals and provided six assists. In the current seasons he has a total of three goals and three assists in 17 appearances. 

The record breaking kid 

On 25 August 2019 he became the second youngest ever person to play for the Barça first team in the league at the age of 16 years and 298 days. The following week, in a game against Osasuna in El Sadar, Ansu Fati became the youngest player ever to score in the league for Barça. The next month against Valencia at home, Fati became the youngest ever player to start a game at Camp Nou. Seven minutes into the game he had become the youngest player ever to score and provide an assist in the same league game

The records kept coming 17 September 2019 Ansu Fati became the youngest player in Barça history to play in the Champions League when he started the game against Borussia Dortmund in the Signal Iduna Park. A goal in the Champions League in December against Inter made him the youngest player to scored in the competition at just 17 years and 40 days. 

With regards to the national side, Ansu Fati became the second youngest player ever to play for Spain behind his team mate Gavi. The striker also became the youngest ever goalscorer for the national side and he now has his first World Cup firmly in his sights.
