Four Clásico debutants

Four Clásico debutants

For Torres, Nico, Abde and Jutglà, playing against Real Madrid at senior level was a brand new experience

No fewer than four players got their very Clásico experiences in Wednesday’s Spanish Super Cup semi-final against Real Madrid. Ferran Torres, Abde, Nico and Jutglà all played a part in a game that unfortunately ended in 3-2 victory for the all-whites.

Ferran Torres

The new Barça signing was included in the starting line-up. Torres played the whole first half and was replaced by Ez Abde at the interval.

Operating down the Barça right wing, he was lively and intensive, ending the game with a booking for a foul on Mendy.

The Valencian continues the list of players to make their Barça debuts in none other than a Clásico, following on from Sergi Roberto (2010/11), Alexis Sánchez and Cesc Fàbregas (2011/12), Luis Suárez (2014/15), Semedo (2017/18), and others.

Ez Abde

Wearing number 33, the young winger came on at half time for fellow debutant, Ferran Torres, also playing on the right. He was replaced in the 110th minute by Jutglà after 65 minutes on pitch.

Nico González

The midfielder also made his entry in the second half. Wearing 28, he replaced Gavi with 12 minutes to go, joining Sergio Busquets and Pedri in the centre. With extra time as well, he ended up playing 42 minutes.

Ferran Jutglà

The Catalan striker came on for Abde to play the last ten minutes of extra time as Xavi looked to introduce added firepower in the rush to get a late equaliser.
