Ansu Fati increases his list of records

The Barça forward has become the highest-scoring player under the age of 18 in the history of LaLiga

Ansu Fati can’t stop breaking records, and his goal in the 32nd minute against Ukraine to make the score 3-0 meant that the young Barça striker became the youngest ever scorer in the Spanish senior team, aged 17 years and 311 days.

His exploits for Barça won him a place in the Euro U21 qualifier against Montenegro, making him the second youngest player to do so after another former Barça man, Bojan Krkic.

Ansu Fati scored his first goal in Europe at the Giuseppe Meazza, just one minute after coming on as an 85th minute sub. His goal secured a 2-1 win and set yet another record for youthfulness!

Whatever he did seemed to set a new all-time record. His two goals against Levante meant he was even younger than Malaga’s Juanmi had been when he got two in 2010. 

10) Second youngest player for Spain

In the UEFA Nations League game with Germany, Luis Enrique sent Ansu Fati on in the second half, and the only younger debutant was Zubieta, a Basque footballer from the early 20th century.

He could also have become the youngest player to score for Spain, had his goal not been disallowed for a foul in the build-up by Sergio Ramos.

11) The youngest goal scorer with the Spanish national team

This Sunday Ansu Fati has become the youngest ever scorer in the Spanish national team, netting the third goal against Ukraine at 17 years and 311 days. The young striker surpassed Errazquin, who scored at 18 years of age in 1925.

With his goal against Ferencváros added to his earlier one against Inter Milan, Ansu Fati became the youngest player ever to score more than one goal in Europe's premier club competition.

Against Ferencváros, Ansu and Pedri's goals meant that two players under 18 scored in the same game for the first time in the history of the Champions League.

14) The highest-scoring player under the age of 18 in the history of LaLiga

October 24, 2020

His goal against Real Madrid saw him reach another record in the league before he was 18 years old, by equaling the 11 goals that Pombo scored in the 1930s.
