RIVAL WATCH: Napoli defeat Sassuolo in Serie A

Barça's opponents in the last 16 of the Champions League get back to winning ways after Wednesday's loss at Parma

Barça's opponents in the second leg of their last 16 Champions League tie Napoli took a 2-0 win on Saturday in their Serie A fixture against Sassuolo. The team coached by Gennaro Gattuso returned to winning ways after Wednesday's 2-1 away defeat at Parma which brought to an end their five game unbeaten run in the Italian league.

The Neapolitan side took the lead as early as their eight minute of the game with a strike from Albanian defender Elseid Hysaj. The visitors thought they had equalised minutes before half time but the effort was disallowed after a VAR review. In the second half Politano hit the post for Napoli before Sassuolo had a second goal disallowed via VAR. In injury time at the end of the second half Brazilian midfielder Allan made the three points safe with a second for the home side who were without former Athletic, Tottenham and Juventus striker Fernando Llorente and Mario Rui.

Napoli remain in seventh place in the table safe in the knowledge that they already have a place in next season's Europa League after winning this season's Coppa Italia. In their remaining two games in Serie A they will face Inter and Lazio before the August 8 date against Barça at Camp Nou to decide their last 16 tie which currently stands at 1-1 after their first leg in Naples back in February.
