Lugo 0-4 Barça Atlètic: Victory brings hope

Barça Atlètic delivered a commanding performance at the Anxo Carro, thrashing Lugo 4-0 to boost their hopes of avoiding relegation. Just three points now separate them from safety, thanks to standout braces from Cédric and Jan Virgili.

Flying start

Sergi Milà’s side took control from the outset and never looked back. In the 5th minute, Cédric intercepted a poor Lugo clearance and slotted past Marcos Lavín for the opener. Lugo tried to respond, but Astralaga made a crucial save to deny the equaliser.

Barça Atlètic kept up the pressure throughout the half, dominating possession and creating chances. Cédric nearly scored again before the break, missing narrowly from distance.

Sealing the deal

The second half saw Barça Atlètic shift into top gear. Though Lugo’s Lizancos came close to levelling, Jan Virgili doubled the lead in the 66th minute after rounding the keeper. Moments later, Lugo were reduced to 10 men as Reniero saw red for violent conduct.

With Lugo down a man, Barça added two more: Virgili converted after Cédric hit the bar, and the Cameroonian striker sealed the rout in the 86th minute.

A flawless display from Barça Atlètic leaves them on 39 points, just three away from safety, ahead of their next clash against Andorra at the Estadi Johan Cruyff on Saturday.
