Real Unión 1-3 Barça Atlètic: Not giving up!

An important 1-3 win today for Barça Atlètic against Real Unión in Irún, as the development side refuse to give up the fight for survival with five Primera RFEF matchdays to go. Toni Fernández (2) and Guillermo scored the goals that sees Sergi Milà's side currently five points from safety.

Sending off proves decisive

Not a great start as Real Unión had the first chances, but both Víctor San Bartolomé and Ander Vidorreta were unable to beat Astralaga, who prevented the home side from going up 1-0.

All was to change after 14 minutes, as Iker Bilbao was sent off after receiving a second yellow. Barça Atlètic now had a numerical advantage and possession of the ball, which manifested in chances. Cedric and Jan Virgili came close, but ultimately Toni Fernández opened the scoring after great play by Trilli before a Toni-Cedric one-two (0-1, min 38).

Fernández cousins to the fore

Toni Fernández clearly wanted more, and now after the break, he got his second after great play by Jan Virgili, firing low next to the post after beating two defenders (0-2, min 56).

His subsequent substitution was offset by his cousin Guille Fernández, who seized on a rebound to score after good team play (0-3, min 70). That's now twice this season that both cousins have scored in the same match.

Real Unión may have scored with a penalty in time added on through Quique Rivero (1-3, min 92), but this game showed that Barça Atlètic are not giving up the fight to stay in the Primera RFEF.
