Lugo 1-1 Barça Atlètic: A point to stay in contention

The last road trip of the year ends a goal apiece and leaves the reserves in the playoff zone for another week

Barça Atlètic had to work hard to get something out of their trip to Lugo on Sunday. After conceding early on, they quickly found a reply at the other end, but that was as far as it went for goals in this one. But a point away from home is never a bad thing and it leaves the catalans in the playoff zone for another week.

Nacho Quintana¡s angled shot after just 11 minutes was too hot for Barça keeper Marc Vidal to handle, but it took just four minutes for the Catalans to level up. Gerard Martín fed Alarcón, who in turn sent a through ball into the path of Aleix Garrido, whose shot deflected in off Pau Víctor, who thus accidentally found his name on the scoresheet!

His eleventh goal of the season was hardly the best, but it certainly rose the blaugrana morale and for a long period after that the game was played almost entirely in the Lugo half. The best of many chances fell to Alarcón, who drove a flicked assist from Unai Hernández goalward, but home keeper Tabuaço produced the save of the day to keep it out.

But there were Lugo occasions too, and Barça had Pau Víctor to thank for a brilliant clearance after the ball had already passed Marc Vidal.

It all ended 1-1, and coming up next is a corker at the Estadi Johan Cruyff against joint leaders Ponferradina. That's next Sunday at 5pm CET.
