Real Murcia 1-1 Barça Atlètic: Prestigious draw

After going behind, a fine second half recovery earns a point in one of the hardest away trips in the division

Barça Atlètic reacted excellently after going a goal down to Murcia and come home with a point that could even have been three.

In front of an almost packed Enrique-Roca-Nueva Condomina between two sides battling for play-off berths, the veteran former Real Madrid man Pedro Leónhad already had two chances to score before finally putting the home side into the driving seat just before half-time.

But after a sluggish first half, Rafa Márquez's improved considerably after the restart, with an amazing 90% possession in the first 15 minutes back out on the pitch. It wasn't creating too many chances, but they took the one they needed, Álvaro Núñez spotting Fabio Blanco coming through and the latter controlling the ball expertly with his head before driving home an unstoppable finish.

Bother sides had chances to win it after, and Barça Atlètic refused to let Alpha Diounkou's red card dampen their spirits and very nearly grabbed a late winner from Chadi, but Joao Costa produced a fine save in the Murcia goal

There was an even better late chance for Murcia's Andrés Carrasco with almost the last kick of the game but Barça Atlètic held on and can head back up north feeling very pleased with themselves indeed.
