Barça Atlètic 1-1 Real Sociedad B: Dignified draw

The Barça and Real Sociedad reserves have taken a point each from today's game at the Estadi Johan Cruyff. A lovely goal from Pelayo equalised against the side ranked in the table.

It had been an uphill struggle ever since Arnau Tenas failed to clear a free kick and Iker Kortajarena was able to put the Basques into an early lead. Real probably deserved their lead at the time, but the Catalans were quick to react. Barberà had the best of many chance to level things up in the first half.

The second half brought an even greater improvement, and had it not been some find saves by visiting keeper Unai Marrero, they could have been even long before Pelayo finally cracked it with a fabulous header off a Luismi Cruz assists.

Sensing the chance to go in for the kill, Rafa Márquez sent on out-and-out strikers Roberto and Fabio Blanco for the final minutes, but to no avail. The game ended 1-1, leaving the blaugrana fifth in the table and in the playoff positions, six short of the top.
