Real Madrid Castilla 0-0 Barça B: Clásico stalemate

Plenty of chances but no goals at the Alfredo di Stefano in the first meeting between the teams for eight years

The first reserve team Clásico between Real Madrid Castilla and Barça B turned out to be fascinating tactical battle with plenty of chances, but it was the defences that outshone the forwards and it ended without score.

The first big chances came from the Aranda brothers, one playing for each team, with Iñaki Peña, turning out for the reserves in this one, doing a fine job between the sticks.

Jutglà for Barça B and Peter for Madrid had the pick of the many chances in what remained of a lively first half.

And it was same two who had the best opportunities after the restart. Peter could have netted at least two times, and Jutglà had a wonderful chance from a corner that went begging too as well as another right at the end that could have snatched a famous victory.

But in the end it was honours even. Madrid remain unbeaten at the Alfredo di Stefano, but this was still a valuable away point for a Barça team whose form is very much heading in the right direction.
