Moroccan forward promoted to Barça B and staying until 30 June 2024 with a buyout clause of 50 million euros, which would be doubled if he moves up to the senior team
Zacarías Ghailán has reached an agreement with FC Barcelona to extend his contract for another three seasons through to 30 June 2024, with the option to a further two. He put pen to paper midday Wednesday in the company of president Joan Laporta, the director responsible for youth football, Joan Soler, the president of Barça B, Jordi Casals, and the director of youth football, José Ramón Alexanco. The player’s buyout clause has been set at 50 million euros while he is with Barça B and 100 million in he’s promoted to the first team.
Ghailán was born on 28 June 2002, and was just 14 when he came to FC Barcelona from Damm. He played for U16B under Cristian Catena in 2016/17, U16A under Franc Artiga in 2017/18, U19B under the same coach in 2018/19 and then Óscar López in 2019/20, although he also played games for U19A that season too.
Last season he sat out half the season with an injury, but was back to feature in the final games of the season, again under Franc Artiga and later Sergi Milà, as the U19A team won the league and came second in the Champions Cup. Zacarías has now neen promoted to Barça B, where he’ll be coached by Sergi Barjuan.
The speedy, skilful Moroccan forward can play on either wing and has a fine goalscoring touch.
He appeared for his country at the U20 African Cup of Nations last January, where his team reached the quarter finals, but lost on penalties to Tunisia.
