Matches between the Barça Legends and the Real Madrid Leyendas have become a regular fixture on the international football calendar. The rivalry between the two clubs attracts global interest, and that includes the veterans, who have faced each other seven times so far, five of those in the last season alone.

The next edition will take place this September in the United States, a double-header between the two teams in Harrison, New Jersey, and Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on the 9th and 13th of September, respectively.

The first game will be held at the Sports Illustrated Stadium, home of MLS side New York Red Bulls, with a capacity of 25,000 spectators. Four days later, the venue is Chase Stadium, which holds 21,550 spectators and is home to Inter Miami, where several legendary Barça names currently play, including Leo Messi, Sergio Busquets, Luis Suárez, Jordi Alba, and coach Javier Mascherano. Both matches are scheduled for 7.30pm local time (1.30am CEST the following day).

For these matches, blaugrana coach Albert Ferrer will be able to call on Rivaldo, Adriano Claudio Bravo, and Paulinho, the latter two set to make their Legends debuts. The rest of the Barça players will be announced in the coming weeks.

These will be the eighth and ninth meetings between the two teams. The most recent encounter took place this past April in Toluca, Mexico, and previous matches have been played in Beirut, Tel Aviv, Doha, Tokyo, Puerto Rico, and Mumbai,proof of the worldwide interest these matches generate.

The aim is to help globalise the Barça brand and promote the club’s values through its former stars. Since its inception, more than 80 players have taken part in at least one Barça Legends match around the world.
