Penya “Som i Serem” in Torregrossa celebrates 50th anniversary

The president of FC Barcelona, Joan Laporta, was present on Friday 12 May at the events to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Penya Barcelonista "Som i Serem" of Torregrossa and the 14th PB Meeting of Lleida Sud and La Franja, held in this town in Pla d'Urgell. The 50th anniversary party was postponed at the time due to the pandemic, the Torregrossa supporters club having been founded in 1970.

The Barça representation was completed by the vice president of the Social Area, Antonio Escudero, the director Josep Ignasi Macià, a native of Lleida, and by the former player and current president of the FC Barcelona Players Group, Juan Manuel Asensi.

The visit began at the club's headquarters, where, accompanied by the president of "Som i Serem", Joan Miquel Pascual, they were able to enjoy the photography exhibition set up to commemorate the 50-year history of the entity.

Next, the Barcelona entourage moved on to the auditorium of the Maria Mercè Marçal Library, where they signed the town's Guest Book and later, a commemorative statue of the 50th Anniversary of the PB "Som i Serem" de Torregrossa was unveiled.

The Municipal Recreation Room in Torregrossa hosted the institutional act with the exchange of gifts and the welcome speeches by the mayor of the municipality, Josep Maria Puig, and the president of the club, Joan Miquel Pascual, followed by words from Claudio Bosch, Delegate of the Advisory Council of PB Lleida Sud and La Franja, Juan Manuel Asensi and President Joan Laporta. Also attending the celebrations were the member of the Parliament of Catalonia, Marta Vilalta, and the president of the Lleida Chamber of Commerce, Jaume Saltó, among others.

During this act, one of the most emotional moments of the day was the presentation of a gift to Antoni Farré, member number 1 and founder of "Som i Serem", by Joan Laporta, and the president of the club, Joan Miquel Pascual.

The celebration closed with a commemorative dinner, which brought together more than 200 members of some thirty supporters in this area
