The removal of the Gol Sud video marker from the Spotify Camp Nou is complete

Work has begun on the partial demolition of the third tier, in preparation for the main operation during the World Cup break in November and December

FC Barcelona has completed the work on dismantling the giant video scoreboard at the South Goal, which was already out of service for the Champions League game with Viktoria Pilsen. Work in that part of the stadium began on September 1 with the removal of parts of the infrastructure, and in recent days the cranes that have been in charge of its removal have been seen on the Spotify Camp Nou forecourt.

Eventually, a large part of the third tier will be removed during the pause in activity for the World Cup in Qatar from November to December. The outer ring is to be dismantled, along with the cantilever roof over the South Goal (until now the site of the Medical Centre) and half of the third tier that was serving as the counterweight.

Three-phase demolition

The work will be done in three stages. The preliminary stage is already happening and should be complete by the start of the World Cup break. The extraction of the main structure of the third tier will be the next phase, and finally new staircases and emergency exits will be built so that the first and second tier seats that won't be affected by the work can be used again in conditions of utmost safety.
