The Barça Legends have won 2-1 at Anfield with a great performance against the Liverpool FC Legends two years after originally scheduled due to the pandemic. The most important thing was the funds raised for the Fundación Barça and LFC Foundation.
Barça started with Angoy, Coco, Edmilson, Dehú, Belletti, Trashorras, Davids, Roger, Giuly, Saviola and Rivaldo, with substitutes coming on later being Guzmán, Soler, Tortolero, Juan Carlos, Giovanni, Jofre Mateu, Mendieta, Riera and Luis Garcia.
Liverpool’s team included some huge names such as Gerrard, Carragher, Kuyt, Hyppia, Agger, McManaman, Maxi Rodríguez and Milan Baros, while Luis Garcia played for both teams!
Liverpool went ahead aftrer 14 minutes from a Steven Gerrard penalty committed by Edmilson on the same man. But despite the early setback, it was the blaugrana who seemed to have the upper hand.
Just before the break, Giovanni was on the end of a through ball from Giuly and levelled affairs with practically the last kick of the half.
Another penalty in the second half, this time on Giovanni, was converted by Rivaldo to claim the winner.
Third game after the pandemic
This was the third game for the Barça Legends since football resumed. The first was in Tel Aviv (Israel) against Real Madrid and in Jnauary they played at the Trofeo Costa Brava against Girona FC in a fundraiser for ALS and a testimonial to Juan Carlos Unzué.
