Games against Girona Legends in the Trofeu Costa Brava ends in 2-0 victory for the home side at an event whose main protagonist was Juan Carlos Unzué

Girona’s legends have beaten the Barça Legends 2-0, although the result was what mattered least on a day that raised important funds for the Miquel Valls Foundation and its work against Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)

The 44th edition of the Trofeu Costa Brava was all about Juan Carlos Unzué, who said "I want to thank both Girona and FC Barcelona for the idea. Thank you very much to them for supporting the foundation and raising awareness of ALS.

Barça president Joan Laporta was also present at Montilivi.

Girona win 2-0

Barça started the game with a team made up Angoy, Tortolero, Rafa Márquez, Juan Carlos, Amor, Mendieta, Sergi Barjuan, Goikoetxea, Jofre Mateu, Luis García and Saviola, and enjoyed much of the early play, with. Mendieta coming especially close, but it was Girona, somewhat against the run of play, who took the lead on the half hour through Manga.

Albert Ferrer gave games to the likes of Felip, Nadal, Juan Carlos Moreno, Javi García, Óscar Arpón, Carreras, Miquel Soler, Roger, Dehú and Pinilla after the restart, but it was the home side who then extended their lead thanks to a fine finish from Jordi Matamala.

The MVP was presented in touching fashion to Juan Carlos Unzué himself, and altogether the event managed to raise around 30,000 euros from ticket sales and donations.
