Kids Activities: Launch a rocket
At the Barça Foundation we have designed some activities for children to enjoy at home whilst learning key skills such as effort and determination!
TIME: Between 30 and 60 minutes
Do you dream about travelling to the moon?
Here we’ll show you how to build a rocket for you to become an astronaut!
What do you need?
- A sheet of paper
- A pencil and colored pencils
- A straw
- Scissors
- Rubber balloons
- 4 or 5 meters of thread
- Transparent adhesive tape
Steps
- First of all, draw your rocket on a sheet of paper. You can color it with your favourite colours.
- Next, cut it out and stick it to the straw with adhesive tape.
- Pass the thread through the straw.
- Inflate the balloon but don’t tie a knot. You need someone to help you stick all the structure of the rocket to the balloon with adhesive tape. Meanwhile, press firmly with your fingers to prevent the balloon from losing its air.
- Now you need to keep working as a team, because you will need someone to help you out. The thread you passed through the straw must be taut.
- When you are ready you can start the countdown for the rocket’s take off: three, two, one… And let the balloon go!
Now you know how to make a little rocket fly with the help of a rubber balloon.
You can create as many designs as you want and send them very far away!
