The Copa del Rey campaign has come to an end for Xavi Pascual's Barça side following a 70-67 defeat at the hands of Baskonia in the Roig Arena in Valencia. Despite dominating a lot of the contest, the blaugranes' search for cup success unravelled in the final quarter against the Basques to see them exit the tournament.

Good start

Xavi Pascual's team got off to an impressive start in the semi-final, surging into an early 13-5 lead thanks to five points from Clyburn. That lead stretched to 19-7 at the end of the first quarter and the blaugranes went into the second period with a 21-16 advantage.

The team from Vitoria kept themselves in the game in the second period coming back to take the lead at 27-26. Barça managed to keep pace with their opponents as Baskonia went into half time with a slender lead at 38-37.

Errors from both sides

The third quarter saw both team struggle initially before the blaugranes started to find their stride. That run saw Xavi Pascual's team surge ahead at 58-49 with just the final period to come. The fourth quarter, however, was Barça's downfall as Baskonia began well to cut the lead to just three points. The Basques then went into the lead at 70-67 but a missed free throw allowed Barça a chance to take the game to overtime right at the death. Unfortunately, Parra's shot bounced out and Baskonia marched on to the final where they will face Real Madrid.
