The Barça basketball team took a 97-92 win in the Palau Blaugrana over Bàsquet Girona, dominating the early stages of the contest and then withstanding a comeback from the visitors in the latter part of the game. Clyburn top scored for the blaugranes with 21 points, aided by Brizuela (19 points) and Cale (17 points). 

Clyburn leads the way

Barça dominated early on with Will Clyburn nailing 14 points in the opening quarter alone as the blaugranes hit 8 from 9 from the perimeter to send them into a 32-22 lead going into the second period. 

Playing with confidence, Xavi Pascual's side were able to extend their lead before half time. Every time Girona threatened to come back, the blaugranes imposed themselves once more to take a 52-40 advantage into the second half. 

Change of mood 

In the third quarter the game opened up as Básquet Girona threatened Barça's dominance. Pep Busquets and Martinas Geben came to the fore for the visitors as Brizuela's three pointer and Laprovittola's calm from the free throw line allowed Barça to retain a slim advantage of 72-67 going into the final quarter. 

After early mistakes in the fourth period, Clyburn brought the Palau back to its feet as he moved past the 20 point mark for the evening. Griona, however, would not be shaken off and it needed a three pointer from Cale and the steadying influence of Brizuela to seal the 97-92 win for Xavi Pascual's team in the ACB league.
