Barça 88-77 Bàsquet Girona: Into the Liga Catalana final!

Liga Catalana final incoming! Barça's season debut ended with a great semi-final win in the 43rd edition of the Catalan competition at the Palau d'Esports Catalunya in Tarragona. A clear victory over new Liga Endesa side, Bàsquet Girona, after a very even game and a power-packed fourth quarter.

Three of this summer's signings made their Barça debut in Nikola Kalinic, Jan Vesely and Mike Tobey, while Satoransky donned the colours once again. Next up, Joventut de Badalona in the final at 9pm CEST on Wednesday, also in Tarragona.

Satoransky delights

Barça overcome a good start for Girona, led by Marc Gasol, reacting well to come back with three pointers for Satoransky, Da Silva and Laprovittola. The game then was very much to and fro with Barça going in 6 points up after the first quarter.

Led by an inspired Satoransky and a good Jokubaitis, the attacks kept coming but a solid lead was never established as Girona continually hit back. Again Satoransky scored a three pointer before Nnaji grabbed a rebound to score and give the team an 8 point lead at the break.

Girona react but Barça close out the game

Girona came out all guns blazing and a partial score of 0-8 levelled the score. Kalinic scored a three pointer to dampen their enthusiasm, but they remained in touch throughout the quarter, before Mike Tobey gave Barça the lead on the buzzer.

Accuracy and intensity flowed through Barça in the fourth quarter, who extended the lead to 10 points, which Girona were unable to claw back before the end of the game. Next up, Joventut de Badalona in the final.
