Barça 71-69 Real Madrid: Series tied

Barça win a very tight game right at the death, led by a great performance by Mirotic (26 points)

Series tied. Barça beat Real Madrid at the Palau Blaugrana right at the end of a very equal game (71-69) after a great performance by Mirotic, who scored 26 points, with 20 coming in the second half. All square as the series moves to Madrid.

Uncertain start

Real Madrid got off to a better start than Barça with a partial of 0-6, an advantage they held throughout the first quarter, although a three-pointer by Jokubaitis brought it back to 13-17 and a more respectable target.

The second period saw Real Madrid again take a seven point lead but Barça won a partial 7-0 before Calathes scored to put Barça in the lead (26-24, min 17). Real Madrid continued to win the rebounds, seven in total, but the sides went into half time with the score 32-32. All to play for.

Second half marginal gains

The game remained even after the restart. Calathes needed stitches in the left check after a clash with former Barça man Adam Hanga when battling for the ball. Real Madrid started to make small gains but Barça showed their professionalism and managed to contain them and creep ahead by 2 points at the end of the third quarter (56-54).

There will still nothing to choose between the sides in the final quarter but Barça managed to go up by 8 points to face the final six minutes with a good lead (65-57, min 34). Real Madrid managed to tie the game shortly after but ultimately a final quarter score of 15-15 meant that Barça shaded the game 71-69 to equal the final series 1-1.
