There are three new faces in Sarunas Jasikevicius’ staff for the 2020/21 season. The new basketball head coach will have two assistant and a fitness coach, all of whom have worked with him in recent seasons.

Darius Maskoliunas

He has a decade of coaching experience at Zalgiris, Lietuvos Rytas and Trefl Sopot in Poland as head coach and has assisted Saras since 2015, as well as managing the Lithuania national team since 2019.

Tomas Masiulis

Tomas Masiulis has followed a similar career path, having played for Zalgiris from 1995 to 2002, Montepaschi Siena (2002) and Prokom Trefl from 2002 and 2008. He and Maskoulinas played together in Kaunas and Poland.

After retiring, he worked with the academy at Zalgiris and for the Lithuania national team, and in 2018 became an assistant to Jasikevicius.

Maskoliunas and Masiulis won the 1999 Euroleague with Zalgiris, and the bronze medal at the Sydney Olympic Games of 2000 together with Jasikevicius.

Finally, fitness coach Justinas Grainys has worked with Saras for the last five years.

Continuity

Two of the assistants under Svetislav Pesic, David Garcia and Òscar Orellana, will be staying on to offer their experience to Jasikevicius.

David Garcia began as an assistant to Xavi Pascual (2010-16) and also worked with Sito Alonso (2017-18) and Pesic (2018-20). Óscar Orellana spent 11 years working with the youth system, before joining the senior setup under Bartzokas (2016/17), and also assisting Alonso (2017/18) and Pesic (2018-20).
