Xavier O'Callaghan, new Managing Director of the New York office | FCB

FC Barcelona has appointed Xavier O'Callaghan as the Managing Director of the New York Office, effective immediately. O'Callaghan's main responsibilities, as the maximum representative of the Club in the Americas, will be to further establish the office and his team there.

By selecting O'Callaghan, the Club has opted for an internal appointee, one who was an elite athlete on the club's handball team. Since his retirement, O'Callaghan has been a manager in the handball, roller hockey, and futsal sections.

O'Callaghan played 15 seasons for FC Barcelona's handball team and has one of the longest lists of honors among all the Club’s professional sports teams.  O'Callaghan racked up 54 titles, including 7 European Cups, 8 League championships, and 6 Copas del Rey. He has also competed in the Olympics, winning a bronze medal in Sydney in 2000, and competing in the Athens Games in 2004.

O'Callaghan holds a degree in Business Sciences from the University of Barcelona, where he also studied Financial and Actuarial Sciences. He has an Executive MBA in Sports Management from La Salle at the Ramon Llull University. Professionally, he has a great deal of knowledge about Barça and the Club’s Sports, Business and Strategy Area, which aims to foment the international expansion of FC Barcelona.
