This Sunday in Cairo, Egypt, FC Barcelona and Emirates NBD Egypt gave a press conference and gala dinner to launch their three new co-branded prepaid cards.

Barça Legend Patrick Kluivert was in attendance, joined by the Chief Executive Officer of Emirates NBD Egypt, Giel-Jan M. Van Der Tol, the Head of Priority Banking and Wealth Management at Emirates NBD Egypt, Ayman Gamgoum and FC Barcelona’s Business Development Manager for the Middle East and Africa, Ali Aissaoui.

This strategic partnership makes the Egyptian bank a regional sponsor of the club until June 2020, and was officially unveiled in the presidential box at the Camp Nou last July 4.

Once the media conference had concluded, the guests made their way to The Clubhouse Uptown Cairo for the gala dinner, which was also attended by a number of well-known footballers from the country as well as other special guests of the bank.

One of the key features of the deal is a prepaid card for the bank’s customers, as well as co-branded platinum and classic cards, in an effort to support the Central Bank of Egypt project to support financial inclusion and attract new clients into the banking sector.

On Saturday, the former Barça star, as part of a promotion of Egyptian tourism, went on a private tour of the pyramids and sphinx at Giza, where he described his profound admiration for the prominence and beauty of the historic structures and for the Ancient Egyptian civilisation in general.
