The first item on the agenda of the 2016 Extraordinary Assembly of FC Barcelona was the confirmation of the sponsorship agreement with Rakuten.

The Japanese company will be the global sponsor of the Club and will appear on the front of the shirt for the next four seasons from 1 July 2017.

It is a global and dynamic leader in e-commerce, communications, digital content and FinTech services for consumers and businesses around the world.

The agreement will last until the end of the 2020/21 season, with the option to extend the deal for a further year. The Club will receive €55m per year for four years, with a bonus of €1.5m for winning La Liga and €5m for winning the Champions League.

Rakuten, as the first Global Innovation and Entertainment Partner of FC Barcelona, will support the players and will delight fans and club members with new initiatives that demonstrate the technological capabilities of the company in the way of messaging, drones, e-commerce, artificial intelligence and much more.

The sponsorship agreement was ratified with 377 votes in favour, 4 against and 5 blank. Rakuten and FCB will now proceed to signing the final agreement in accordance with the ratification announcement.
