The FC Barcelona president pays a visit to the United Nations organisation to show his support for the ‘No respect, no game’ campaign

FC Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu visited UNESCO on Tuesday, the United Nations agency for education, science and culture.

The president visited the premises and met for just over an hour with the Assistant Director-General for Social and Human Sciences Nada Al-Nashif, Assistant Director-General for External Relations and Public Information Eric Falt, and Alexander Schischlik, Chief of Youth and Sport Section.

The meeting has served to show once again the support of FC Barcelona for the campaign ‘No respect, no game’, promoted by UNESCO and PRISA/Cadena SER to fight against racism and discrimination in Spanish football. The campaign was presented on 24 January in Madrid, in an event attended by President Bartomeu, as well as Nada Al-Nashif. Also present was the president of Juventus, Andrea Agnelli, and the president of Real Madrid, Florentino Pérez, as well as Juan Luis Cebrián, Executive Chairman of the PRISA Group.

The meeting also served to discuss the projects that both institutions have in common in the field of culture and education, as well as to explore possible cooperation agreements for the future through the FC Barcelona Foundation. Bartomeu explained that the Strategic Plan of the FCB Foundation for 2016-2021 is in line with the values promoted by UNESCO. Among them is the access and reinforcement of education for the most vulnerable children, the prevention of violence and the promotion of peaceful resolution of conflicts, mainly through the FutbolNet program, and the fight against social exclusion and discrimination.

On their part, the UNESCO leaders invited president Bartomeu to present the Club's social responsibility projects at the Sixth International Conference of Ministers and Senior Officials Responsible for Physical Education and Sport, to be held in Kazan (Russia) from 15 to 17 July. The objectives of this global conference are to develop a comprehensive vision of inclusive access for all, maximizing the contribution of sport to sustainable development and peace, as well as to protect the integrity of sport.
