The Gamper stays at home (3-2)

The new-look Barça squad was unveiled to the fans at the 54th edition of the Joan Gamper Trophy. Sampdoria were the guests on the 25th anniversary of FCB’s first ever European Cup, won  at Wembley in 1992 against the same Italian club.

New Camp Nou stadium announcer

On Gamper day, the announcer at the Camp Nou was Carles Vich, son of the late Manel Vich. The new voice for the season served in the role for the first time in the Spanish Super Cup match. It’s Aleix Santacana, who previously made the announcements in the Palau Blaugrana.

Paco Alcácer joins strike force

A day before the closure of the transfer market, Barça signed the fourth striker they were after. Paco Alcácer has arrived from Valencia on a five-year deal to complete what the club’s director of professional sports, Albert Soler, describes as “the most exciting squad in the world.”
