Xavier Munford came to FC Barcelona in February of 2017 as cover for the injured Alex Renfroe. The American guard was born in Hillside, New Jersey on 1 June, 1992.

He started his basketball career at Miami Dade College, then Iowa Western and finally Rhode Island. His debut as a professional came in a team affiliated to NBA outfit Phoenix Suns, Bakersfield Jam where he spent two seasons, averaging 10.8 points and 3.3 rebounds a game in his first season and 20.4 points in his second. In 2015/16 he was chosen for the All Star Game of the NBA Development League.

That same season, 2015/16, came his first experience of the NBA. Munford signed for the Memphis Grizzlies and he featured in 14 matches during the regular season with an average of 5.7 points and 17.4 minutes per game. He also played 4 games in the play offs, averaging more than 22 minutes per game and almost 5 points. Prior to joining the blaugranes, he played for Greensboro Swarm, a team linked to Charlotte Hornets from the NBA in the organisation’s D-League with an average of 18.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game.
