On Wednesday the president of FC Barcelona Josep Maria Bartomeu visited the Mobile World Congress to attend the ‘Enhancing the consumer experience’ session organised by Sports & Entertainment Summit. One of the speakers at the event was William Mannarelli, director of the Patrimonial Area at FC Barcelona, who outlined the potential uses for mobile technology to enrich the user experience in the future Espai Barça.

In that sense, Mannarelli also referred to the agreement established between the Club and the GSMA which is aimed at realising the potential of Big Data and the Internet of things at FC Barcelona events and at its facilities.

Barça president Bartomeu, accompanied by director Didac Lee, visited the GSMA stand where he met up with Carlos Grau, the CEO of Mobile World Capital. The president took part in a simulation of a surgeon via virtual reality thanks to the application of 5G technology.

The president also visited the stand, ‘Case for Change’, a GSMA initiative in which the FC Barcelona Foundation collaborate via the Robot Pol project in which the Éric Abidal foundation is also involved. This particular initiative allows children who are confined to hospital to enjoy a virtual Barça experience via Robot Pol.

Finally, the Barça representatives took a look at the pilot project from the RCS technology, a development of 4G technology that allows the user to have a more direct interaction with services such as the Seient Lliure scheme.
