The droves of workers, tourists and other passersby who walk up and down Park Avenue in Midtown Manhattan each day almost invariably cast their gazes upon the imposing façade of one of New York City’s most recognizable landmarks — The Waldorf Astoria.

On Tuesday, however, there was one unmistakable alteration to the face of the world famous hotel. Hanging opposite the perpetually present Stars and Stripes of the United States was a flag with alternating horizontal bars of royal blue and maroon, emblazoned in the middle with the badge of the city’s newest resident — Futbol Club Barcelona.

The colorful symbol of the Catalan club will be there on Tuesday and Wednesday while Barça’s new offices — just three blocks down the street at number 250 — are inaugurated with a series of events taking place throughout Manhattan.
