After Barça B’s training session, some of the reserve players, were joined by the Juvenil A and the reserve basketball teams at the Masía to participate in the FC Barcelona Foundation’s ‘We are what we eat’ cooking workshop. The workshop, led by the chefs from the Alicia Foundation, gathered all of the athletes that live in the Masía building to show them easy, economic and fast cooking methods with the objective of teaching the budding stars how to maintain a healthy diet without dedicating long periods of time to cooking.

Easy-to-make healthy food

In the first part of the workshop, chef Marc Puig-Pey talked about the importance of maintaining a healthy diet, as well as highlighting important ingredients and how often they should be consumed. The cream of dry bean soup, the vegetable pasta, iced strawberry yogurt and orange juice were the stand-out courses amongst the prepared dishes. The main goal of the workshop was to show the Masía residents ingredients and dishes that normally don’t figure into the diets of young people: vegetables, fruit, legumes, and seafood.

After the talk, the athletes divided into groups and cooked up dishes with ingredients provided by the chefs. Barça B’s Marc Muniesa, Sergi Roberto, Rafinha, Sergi Gómez and Espinosa were present during the one and a half hour workshop.
