Presentation synopsis:

Benfica LAB is a Department within SL Benfica professional football that intervenes in three major areas of Sport’s Science (Sport’s Performance Analysis; Sport’s Psychophysiology; and Sport’s Nutrition), helping coaches, athletes and teams, improving their performance.

Although belonging directly to professional football, Benfica LAB also extend its intervention in Youth Football and Indoor Sports (Basketball, Handball, Roller Skating Hockey, Futsal and Volleyball).

Benfica LAB´s professionals are graduated in Sport’s Science (including Master Degrees) and in the case of football, they have specialization in football coaching, performance analysis, fitness training and training methodology. A significant number of this professionals also have UEFA Licence degrees.

Adding to all of this, we are always researching new areas of knowledge as well creating and experimenting new tools to improve our intervention. A good example of that is the strong priority that Benfica LAB gives to innovation and scientific investigation with various research studies and scientific papers already published by Benfica LAB’s professionals in collaboration with other institutions of reference (mainly universities) that are our partners.

It’s our goal with this presentation, to highlight the daily intervention of Benfica LAB (with the players, coach and the club’s administration). We will show how our department is organized, our staff and also how we use the different tools, systems and procedures regarding data analytics, always maintaining a transversal methodology throughout its three main areas of intervention (Sport’s Performance Analysis, Sport’s Psychophysiology and Sport’s Nutrition)
