Tomic scored an impressive 23 points / VÍCTOR SALGADO - FCB

[[DES_1]]FC Barcelona Lassa started Liga Endesa with a hard-fought win against a valiant CAI Zaragoza side (84-76).

Barça started strongly, led by Tomic who imposed himself early on with six consecutive points. The home side worked some good openings but Zaragoza constantly responded and ended the first period ahead (21-23).

The visitors continued from where they left off in the second quarter as Xavi Pascual’s side experienced their worst spell of the game, going down 23-31. The biggest difference was in the three-point shot accuracy as the home side succeeded in just one out of six attempts while Zaragoza converted five out of nine. As he did at the start of the game, Tomic took charge in the points department but, as Barça narrowed the scoreline to 33-37, the visitors hit another three-pointer.

Fighting spirit

Marcus Eriksson lifted the crowd with two trebles in a row and, thanks to the Swede’s efforts, Barça went into the half-time break just one point down (45-46). Tomic continued to show the way for the home side but Zaragoza maintained a point advantage at the end of the third period (61-62).

[[DES_2]] After three almost equally-matched quarters, Barça managed to break ahead at the end to claim an extremely tough victory. Two three-pointers from Navarro and more Tomic magic eventually handed the Catalans their first win in the league.
