Barça ended their participation in the Appart City Cup with an emphatic 93-57 win against Pau Orthez in Castelnau-le-Lez, the ideal response to the disappointing loss to Asvel.

Rising gap

The Eriksson-Doellman partnership was lethal right from the start, as FCB stormed off to a 17-2 lead, and Pau Orthez were powerless to finds a response. The period ended 25-6. Things didn’t improve for the French club in the second period. Navarro and Hakanson provided a whole series of threes (Barça got 10 in the first half) to get things to 40-11, and the break came with a huge margin between the sides: 54-20.

Clear improvement

Pau Orthez were somewhat more effective in the third period, but even so, Barça’s lead was never put in danger. From 62-34 it went to 68-43, and the final period was a mere formality.

Barça used the time to try out new tactics with the Endesa Super Cup in mind, which starts on September 26 against Laboral Kutxa. Points from Hezonja, playmaking from Satoransky and triples from Nachbar all helped maintain the lead at 79-46 with six to play.

Barça ended the game with three Swedes on the court (Hakanson, Eriksson and Lampe) and it all ended 93-57, a more than convincing performance all round.
